Familia Zuccardi Wine Dinner @ GOL! THE TASTE OF BRAZIL
About 40 people gathered for this fabulous event and were shocked at the high quality of the wines and food pairings we had the pleasure of tasting.
We opened with Santa Julia Sparkling Brut Rose, truly as much of a great champagne as the French version. A delicious nutty flavor with a mild carbonation, this surprise started it all off with smiles galore. I can honestly say that when my daughter gets married this will be the champagne we will use.
The Torrontes is a brilliant white wine with tonalities of pears and citrus that is grown at over 5,000 feet above sea level. The pairing with the delicious calamari salad was perfect to show off the complexity this white wine offers. Zuccardi Serie A Torrontes.
The Zuccardi Q Tempranillo was another pleasant surprise. Most Tempranillos outside of Spain are unidimensional with little to offer. This version was wonderfully deep and had layers of dark berries that stood up to the strong taste of the Grilled Chicken Legs with Brazilian Molho A Companha. A very rewarding combination!
The Serie A Malbec was delicious with that herbal overtone so characteristic of the good Malbecs. The entire collection of this wine was sold out to the attendees who could not get enough of this superb wine. The match with the Sirloin Steak could not be better.
Finally, the coup de grace was the dessert wines that were so perfectly paired with the delicious Brazilian desserts. For those of you that do not know the Malbec Port that Zuccardi produces, Malamado fit like a glove around the chocolate Mousse Cake. The sweet Tardio made from late harvest Torrontes was a pleasant shock to everyone and it was also sold out to its new fans.
A great and most rewarding dinner was had by all.
