Wine Spectator has just released its award list which includes GOL! THE TASTE OF BRAZIL for the 6th straight year.  To celebrate, we will be having a half off wine tasting on Wednesday the 25th of July.  Normally, the wine tastings are $30 a person but to celebrate the award, the cost per person will be only $15.

Familia Zuccardi Wine Dinner @ GOL! THE TASTE OF BRAZIL

About 40 people gathered for this fabulous event and were shocked at the high quality of the wines and food pairings we had the pleasure of tasting.

 

We opened with Santa Julia Sparkling Brut Rose, truly as much of a great champagne as the French version. A delicious nutty flavor with a mild carbonation, this surprise started it all off with smiles galore.  I can honestly say that when my daughter gets married this will be the champagne we will use.

The Torrontes is a brilliant white wine with tonalities of pears and citrus that is grown at over 5,000 feet above sea level.  The pairing with the delicious calamari salad was perfect to show off the complexity this white wine offers.  Zuccardi Serie A Torrontes.

The Zuccardi Q Tempranillo was another pleasant surprise.  Most Tempranillos outside of Spain are unidimensional with little to offer.  This version was wonderfully deep and had layers of dark berries that stood up to the strong taste of the Grilled Chicken Legs with Brazilian Molho A Companha.  A very rewarding combination!

The Serie A Malbec was delicious with that herbal overtone so characteristic of the good Malbecs.  The entire collection of this wine was sold out to the attendees who could not get enough of this superb wine.  The match with the Sirloin Steak could not be better.  

Finally, the coup de grace was the dessert wines that were so perfectly paired with the delicious Brazilian desserts.  For those of you that do not know the Malbec Port that Zuccardi produces, Malamado fit like a glove around the chocolate Mousse Cake.  The sweet Tardio made from late harvest Torrontes was a pleasant shock to everyone and it was also sold out to its new fans.

A great and most rewarding dinner was had by all.

Author Frank Reider will present the Casa Silva wines and discuss the wine pairings. Casa Silva is the oldest winery in Colchagua Valley, Chile and its wines are constantly rated highly by experts around the world. Robert Parker rates all of the above wines in the 90's.

Also join us for wine tastings every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. $20 per person includes wines and food pairings.

 

Chase Alumni Wine Tasting Dinner at GOL!

Join fellow Chase alumni at the third annual wine tasting event at CAA member Frank Reider's award-winning restaurant, GOL! The Taste of Brazil, in Delray Beach, Florida, on Thursday, February 2, 2012.
 
The cost is $59 per person, including full rodizio of 15 cuts of meat, grilled shrimp and grilled salmon, as well as the 40-item salad bar, dessert and four wines from the Chilean vineyard Casa Silva.  All wines are rated 90 points or higher by Robert Parker.  Tax and gratuity arealso included.


Reider will be presenting each of the wines with suggested food pairings for each wine.  The wines also will be on sale if anyone wants to take some home.
